A little snow in SC!

We had a crazy snow storm yesterday that dumped 4 inches of snow in about 4 hours. The most snow we've seen since living in SC...

Beatrice loved playing in it while it was falling!


By time the time the sun went down, it was starting to fill up the deck and yard!






We went out to dinner downtown for an early Valentine's Day. It was so pretty with the white lights. We had a table right next to the window so we watched the snow fall as we enjoyed our lobster, yum!

And the main reason, I love living in the South. Well, it's all but gone at 3pm today! Thank you sunshine.

The bathroom re-do!

We finally got our upstairs bathroom redone, yay! Our bedroom was originally an attic and so was our bathroom. The shower was done very cheaply and needed much work. Luckily we found the best handymen to do all the plumbing and tile work. We couldn't be more excited.This was how the shower started out. I am actually embarrassed to post these but you can't get the real view of how great it is now without some before shots.

So you see we needed some work! Even the floor and the toilet needed help! All of this had been cleaned with bleach before the pictures were taken. So the work begins....





And...the final product! We are so pleased!


Even a new toilet and bleached grout! I guess we are really grown-ups now that we are excited about things like this!

Christmas with the Rorrers!

We had a wonderful trip to Danville, VA for Christmas this year. We couldn't believe Dave had Christmas off, which allowed us to go to VA for the first holiday since 2003!! We got to spend lots of time with the family, including Katie's new fiance Pryor. We also squeezed in visits with The Parris family and David Ramsey. Playing with Josie in the snow was a highlight, as were drinks with Katie and Pryor at Ham's! A great trip all around!

Thanksgiving 2009

We hosted Joan, Joel, Nonnie and Daisy the Lab for Thanksgiving this year. I really love making the food and the whole tradition. This year I made turkey, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, and two pies. I even made the pie crust from scratch, and you could tell by looking at it!! Dave had to work most of the time but we had a nice visit. On Friday I went with the crew to Boone to cut a fresh Christmas tree. It was COLD but very fun. Dave even got to play golf with his dad on his one day off while Joan and I shopped till we dropped. Overall, a wonderful holiday. We are very blessed!

New York, New York!

We have a marvelous weekend in New York! We flew in Thursday night and went to Katonah with The Ballards. On Friday Dave and I went into the city to shop! We went up 5th Avenue and then to lunch at Serendipity. The frozen hot chocolate was amazing! Then we went on to Rockefeller Center and after a quick trip to Saks 5th Avenue we were back at Grand Central. Saturday the Ballards took us for lunch in Little Italy, the pizza was so yummy! Then we toured Chinatown and Times Square. We had a beer with Butch at Hard Rock and then off to the Waldorf Astoria. It was a great surprise that Russell and Diane were in town and we went to their hotel. One of the highlights of the weekend was Mesa Grill. My great friend Giulia set us up a reservation for Saturday dinner and her sister Claudia showered us with wonderful appetizers and dessert! It was a great way to end a magnificent weekend. I love you, New York!

Family reunion at WSP

We had the best time with Gill and Jonathan at Widespread Panic last weekend! WSP and The Allman Brothers played in Charlotte on Saturday and Sunday. The Allmans were not our favorite that night -- they were a little rusty -- but WSP was great. We also had so much fun catching up with two of our favorite people. Hard to believe that it's almost been 9 years since Rose first met those boys....We miss you guys and we need to do it again soon!
