Being Aunt Ginny...

is the best! I saw Josie in Danville this summer. We did cool stuff like eating out, getting manicures, and scrapbooking! I just adore her.

Coykendall Crescent Beach!

I went down to Florida for a three night run with the Coykendall crew! It started out with the annual trip to Cowboys in St. Augustine for dinner! Gator tail and fried shrimp did not disappoint!

I also got to spend a lot of time with our niece and nephew, Emma and George. They are adorable! Katie and I took Stephanie shopping in Ponte Vedra for Alabama rush too, which was great!

We had some rainstorms but mostly sunshine! Emma has learned to swim underwater so we spent a lot of time at the pool swimming and hanging in the "utter-tube" in the sunshine!

I was so happy to see the Miars, the Ballards, and the Coykendalls!

Beautiful Boca Raton

We made our way down to Palm Beach County with a stop in Jacksonville. Dave got to play golf with his parents and we had dinner at Ponte Vedra. It was a great two days in Jax!

We stopped in Cocoa Beach on 95 and did lunch and Ron Jon's surf shop. After 29 years of seeing the signs on the way to Gran's house, I had to stop!

It was just as cheesy as I had imagined, did not disappoint! And the conch fritters at lunch on the beach weren't too bad either!

We loved our hotel in Boca, The Ocean Lodge. Right on A1A and just perfect!

The first night we went down to Deerfield Beach to dinner, it was beautiful and good food - just didn't think we'd end up in Broward County again, oh lawd! Glad we got out alive, haha!

We also went to lunch at our favorite, Two Georges, in Boynton Beach. Great Mahi fingers and beer on a sunny Tuesday afternoon! The best part of Boynton for sure...

One of the best parts was hanging out with old friends. We went to Jill and John's house in Boca and had dinner with them in Mizner, it was great! And I also got to see Giulia - good Pope John Paul memories! Can't wait to live closer again!

After a long day on Wednesday we went to Dada in Delray for dinner - forgot how much we loved this place! Amazing food and atmosphere! The BLT is to die for!

Thursday was a super exciting and successful day for Dave and I! We went to dinner at Uncle Julio's in Mizner Park to celebrate!

We were super sad to leave Palm Beach County but knowing we will be back very soon made it ok. Spanish River Park and beach are so peaceful...the smell of the salt water makes life good!

Bye Boca, we will be back soon - we love you!

Asheville, love it!

Dave and I went to see Widespread Panic in Asheville this weekend, it was a great getaway. We stayed at Hotel Indigo, which is amazing! We also ate great meals at Lexington Avenue Brewing and Neo Cantina - and I even dragged him shopping. As much as Dave works, it makes us just appreciate a great weekend with wonderful food and music. Ain't life grand!

Grand Rounds? Yep, check!

Smiles of two relieved people!! Dave presented his grand rounds speech today on hypoparathyroidism and calcium complications. It only took 8 months of research and one hour to present - that's all!! I am SOOO super proud of him! One step closer to graduation and one step closer to Florida! I love DSC! He's a great surgeon and an amazing person. Go Dave!

"Aunt Ginny?!? Can you spend the night?"

I flew to Virginia on March 17 to surprise Josie! The small plane was worth it to see her face when I landed -- first was the scream "Aunt Ginny!" and next was "Can you spend the night?" She turned 6 on March 9 and although I missed her birthday I made up for it with this trip! I got to visit her school on March 18 - ate lunch with her, met her teacher and classmates, and saw her classroom. Even got to play on the playground!
She is in Kindergarten at a wonderful school in Williamsburg and is learning to read. I got to hear her read three books!

I loved having sister/niece time with my family! We also went to Norfolk Zoo on Saturday - it was the perfect size for an afternoon visit.

We went to the prairie dog houses and saw lots of animals like kangaroos!

They also had an African exhibit with lions, elephants, and giraffes!

It was an amazing afternoon with two of my favorite people!

We especially liked the elephants, although Josie was scared she'd fall in the elephant habitat!

Josie took many pictures with her own camera, she's now a scrapbooker too - must run in the family!

Missed Dave so much on this trip but got to see Phish's favorite spot - the Hampton - from the interstate! Emailed him the picture so he'd feel like he was with us too!! :)

10 years!

On January 12, 2001 I met a man that would change my life! To quote a favorite lyric from Phish, "You decide what it contains, how long it goes but this remains, the only rule is it begins. Happy, happy all my friends!" How happy I am on this day!

NYE in NYC!!

We arrived on 12/30 to a very snowy NYC! We had lunch at Dos Caminos in Soho and then shopped around a bit.
After wandering through the snow in Soho we went to Midtown. The snow there was mostly gone. A little shopping at Louis Vuitton and then on to Rockefeller Center to see the tree. It was a dream come true for me!

Dinner 12/30 at Do Hwa in West Village - crazy good Korean food. We had zucchini pancakes, kimchi dumplings, black cod, and pork belly wraps.

After dinner in front of our hotel, Washington Square Hotel in West Village. The best hotel, we loved it! Will stay here our next time in the city - a great boutique hotel.

Wandering around The Village on New Year's Eve - finally cleaning up the snow!
Walking to Otto for lunch on 12/31 - sloshing through the snow...
Washington Square Park on 5th and Waverly Place- beautiful covered in snow!
Lunch on 12/31 at Otto Entecca on 5th Avenue - Mario Batali's pizza place. Sooo good! I had prosciutto pizza and Dave had anchovy pizza. We stayed for almost 2 hours there, it was such a cool environment and amazing food!
Black and white dessert at Otto. Wonderful, amazing!!
Sunset in The Village on 12/31 - last sunset of 2010! What a way to end the year!
Phish tickets in hand for 12/31/2010! So cute how excited he was!
Me too, I was so excited!! Ready to ring in 2011 in Madison Square Garden!! The concert was ridiculous and just to be in MSG on New Year's was cool!! Phish put on an awesome show!!
We loved staying in The Village - just on Washington Square. Tons of shopping and restaurants to choose from.
Our last meal in the city - on Bleecker and Macdougal - outstanding Indian buffet! Taj Indian did not disappoint... the only meal we didn't plan and just stumbled upon. It was perfect!
The best part -- My mom worked in The Village in the 60s at 98 Macdougal. "The Hip Bagel" is now a burrito joint! We were staying 2 blocks from there, how neat!! And goodbye NYC, thanks for showing us a good time. We'll be back...
